About Dr. Karla
The Scientist Who Came Back From the Floor
I almost didn't make it. Twice.
I am a PhD-trained biotechnologist, two-time suicide attempt survivor, and award-winning author of 15+ books. I founded Women Who Emerge and the Science of Becoming Institute.
I built all of it from the rubble of a life that fell completely apart.
That is not a biography. That is a body of work.
The Science
My background in biotechnology shapes how I understand change. It has taught me that transformation is rarely a single moment. It is a process of dismantling, adaptation, reorganization, and emergence.
That understanding informs my writing, my work, and the frameworks I have developed, including the the Art of Emergence™.
At the heart of it all is a simple conviction: We are not confined to who we have been. We have the capacity to become something more.
The Story
Before the books.
Before the stages.
Before the language to explain any of it.
There was a life that came apart completely.
And then, slowly, deliberately…there was the reconstruction.
I do not write from distance.
I write from having lived it.
Her talks are not motivational. They are clarifying.

My Books
A body of work across memoir, spiritual nonfiction, and transformation.
Each book asks a different question.
All arrive at the same truth: Becoming is inevitable.
New Release
This book is for every woman who rebuilt herself after something broke and wondered why the person who emerged felt so unfamiliar, and so true.
Drawing on cell biology, neuroscience, and lived experience, The Science of Becoming reveals what was happening inside you all along.
The collapse was not the end.
The rebuilding was not random.
You were never falling apart.
You were becoming.
